Welcome to the adventures of a Mindful badass

In living an authentic life, that often means I come across unexpected things…such as creating a website and learning how to blog for the first time - ha! Let me tell you folks, it’s amazing how simple and yet complicated something can be, and I get to adventure into this squishy space of trying on something new. And it feels delightful!

Like all of the unusual instances in my life so far, I am embracing this one head-on so that I can continue to learn, grow and share in a space of openness. What that means, is this particular page is under construction, and you get to see the construction happen! Often these pages are ‘hidden’ but I don’t mind showing the imperfect, happy and slightly squidgy Alexis as I learn how to blog.

As I’m starting my new lifelong dream of traveling, this blog will be an outlet to express, well…me! Being a Mindful Badass isn’t something I did once and left on the shelf, it is a lifelong journey for me to mindfully create a world which inspires, delights and fills me up. Welcome to my journey friend, I am glad you are here!

Moving to Washington state right before the holidays, I knew I needed to plug in so I wouldn’t feel the holiday blues. I made this into a game as I searched within a 40-minute radius for all holiday activities happening until the end of the year. I signed up for a dance class, a cake pop class, reindeer viewing, Solstice ceremony and even treated myself to seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra - a bucket list for the past 15 years! However…the epitome of all that is holiday…was the Gingerbread House event! For two glorious hours, I was going to get to create a wonderful, magnificent confection of sugar and spice for a family of gummy bears. For whatever reason, I was looking forward to this activity the very most.

I arrived and the location was stunning with polished oak trimmings, a nutcracker to greet me at the door, lights twinkling and everything overlooking the lake. It.was.perfect!

Once I got my selection of sugar, I eagerly made my way to the table to start planning my homestead. Then I got to work! And…wouldn’t you know it…the icing plooped right out of the bag in a massive mess of white, sticky, GLOOP!

This one event I was so eagerly anticipating…turned into a pile of blech real fast. And I LAUGHED! So hard the families around me glanced my way to figure out if they should be concerned for their children or not.

What a gift this ploop of icing was to my holiday! While it wasn’t the ‘Event’ I had anticipated, as I laughed and let go of my expectations…it was the perfect day. And my gummie bear family still had a new home by the end of the time. I hope you found a similar joy this holiday season, because sometimes…we all need a gloop of icing to remind us to smile and not take life too seriously.

Mindful Holidays

For two glorious hours, I was going to get to create a wonderful, magnificent confection of sugar and spice for a family of gummy bears. For whatever reason, I was looking forward to this activity the very most.

Welp, the location was stunning with polished oak trimmings, a nutcracker to greet me at the door, lights twinkling and everything overlooking the lake. It.was.perfect!

Searching for my soul

As another day beings, I take a look at the mountain wildflowers, the crisp green of the aspens and the clear blue sky and think to myself…I am grateful.
